Cookie statement
This website sets no cookies at all
Not for statistics, not for preferences, not for a session. There is no banner on this page because there is nothing to ask you about. This statement covers what could be set later, what would have to happen first, and the one thing the site stores that is not a cookie.
The short version
You can check this in about a minute, without asking us
Open your browser's developer tools, go to Application and then Cookies, and reload any page on this site. The list is empty. It is empty on the home page, on the NIS2 pages, on the contact page and on this one.
If your browser shows you something this page does not mention, that is a finding and we would like to hear about it.
What could be stored
Everything this site could store, and what would trigger it
One statistics tool is built into the site and is currently switched off. One entry records your answer to the question it would ask. Nothing else exists, in either state.
| What | What it is for | When it is set | How long it lasts | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Clarity cookies | Statistics, which pages are read, where people stop scrolling, which links are used | Only after you press Accept on a consent banner. That banner is not on the site at the moment, so this never happens. | Set by Microsoft; the longest lasts about a year | Microsoft |
| tse-consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined statistics, so you are asked once rather than on every visit | When you answer the banner. While statistics are off there is no banner and no entry. | Until you clear the site data for this domain | Nobody. It stays in your browser. |
| Advertising, social plugins, embedded video, third-party fonts, chat widgets | Not applicable | Never. The site does not use any of them. | Not applicable | Not applicable |
| A login or session cookie | Not applicable | Never. The published site is flat files, with nothing to log in to. | Not applicable | Not applicable |
Microsoft Clarity is switched off in the published configuration. The build only puts the consent script on the page when a Clarity project ID is configured, and that field is empty. With it empty there is no banner, no cookie and no request to clarity.ms. If that changes, this table and the date at the top of the page change with it.
The one entry that is not a cookie
tse-consent is a line in your browser, not a cookie
If statistics are ever switched on, the banner asks once. Whichever button
you press, the answer is written to your browser's localStorage under the
key tse-consent. It holds three things: a version number, whether you
said yes to statistics, and the date you answered.
The difference from a cookie is not a technicality. A cookie is attached to every request your browser makes to this site, so it reaches our servers. A localStorage entry is not sent anywhere. It stays on the device you used, only pages on this domain can read it, and we never receive it.
The version number is there so that adding a new purpose expires the old answer, and everyone is asked again rather than counted as having already said yes.
Changing your answer
How to change your mind, and what happens when you do
At the moment there is nothing to withdraw. What follows applies from the day statistics are switched on.
To remove your answer, clear the site data for thinksmart.eu in your
browser, in Chrome and Edge under Settings, Privacy and security, in
Firefox and Safari under the equivalent privacy settings. Deleting the
entry for this domain removes tse-consent, and the banner returns on
your next visit.
If you declined, nothing was loaded and you are not asked again. A refusal does not expire after a fixed number of months.
We cannot delete the entry for you, because it sits on your device rather than on our systems. We can tell you what the current configuration does, at info@thinksmart.eu.
No wall, no pre-ticked interest
Refusing costs you nothing, which is why refusing is one click
Statistics are optional. The site reads the same and works the same whether you accept or refuse, so there is nothing to put behind the choice. There is no cookie wall, no dimmed page behind the banner, and no version of this site that you reach only by agreeing.
There is also no "legitimate interest" tab. Knowing how a marketing site is read is a convenience for us, not an interest that outweighs your choice, and presenting it as one would mean collecting the data of everyone who does not go looking for a second screen of toggles. When the banner does appear, Decline is the same size and weight as Accept.
The trade-off is ours. We cannot see which pages get read, which sections lose people, or how anyone found us, and we learn that something is broken when a visitor tells us.
Deliberate omissions
What is missing from this site on purpose
- Analytics by default. Nothing measures you before you have agreed to it.
- Advertising and retargeting pixels. There are none, from anyone.
- Social plugins and share buttons. They set cookies for the network they belong to whether or not you click them.
- Embedded video. A player served from a video platform is a third party sitting on the page.
- Third-party fonts. The typefaces come from our own origin, so no font service receives your IP address.
- Chat widgets, tag managers and A/B testing scripts.
That list is why the table above is short. The cookies most sites have to declare do not come from the site itself; they arrive with the things it embeds.
The rest of the data question is on the privacy page
This page covers only what is stored in your browser. What happens to the details you send us, through the form, by email or on the phone, is set out in the privacy statement. If anything here does not match what your browser shows you, tell us.
